Alumni Scoop UpAccelerate Program Incubation Prize

On the 30th of May, 2017, 3 students from our 2nd cohort scooped a business incubation prize for their solution and innovation, the “Health Data Harvester.” The team of 3 comprisin gof Jacqueline Mutumba, Obed Mongeni and Aidah Bakubuza joined three other teams in the 2nd cycle of business incubation program UpAccelerate hosted at Outbox Hub, supported by UNFPA and UKAID. The Health Data Harvester is a mobile solution that’s going to enable field health workers take patient data records accurately and in the same manner that they are taken in the hospitals. Team “Dynamite” takes on Smart Transport innovation at ACIA Hackathon

This week, IHSU students took part in a 48-Hours hackathon for Smart Transport Management. The hackathon which was organized by Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) in partnership with Makerere University School of Public Health – ResilientAfrica Network (RAN) – a multidisciplinary innovation hub conducted the Hackathon under the theme “Smart Transport Management (STM)”. Our team of four students, currently undertaking the postgraduate certificate in Applied ICT and Leadership program took part in innovating for smarter transport in Uganda. IHSU Students among Top 20 finalists at MTN APP Challenge 2017

Over the weekend of 12th to 15th of May 2017 a team of five students form the Applied ICT and Leadership program at International Health Sciences University took part in the MTN App Challenge organized by MTN Uganda to develop technological solutions to key industry problems in the Education, Health, Agriculture, Transport and Finance sectors. In the meteorological Summer of 2015, Joshua Eyaru joined a group of twelve young men and women to undertake the postgraduate certificate in applied ICTs and Leadership at IHSU. The journey of big laughs, major career strides and long hours of personal growth. When you walked into the playfully beautiful room, one student, notably quiet, keeping to himself silently stood out. This which meant that his potential could very easily evade one who was not keen to seek his opinion. Awards Gala (Pictorial)

IHSU held the first Awards Gala on 15th June, 2016 at Protea Hotel Kampala. We hosted guests from ICT and Health sectors who witnessed the presentations about the state of Health care in Uganda vis-a-vis technology and ICT developments, project presentations from the best of the first and second cohorts of the APplied ICT and Leadership classes. The night also saw the launch of the Business Accelerator, Lift256 which will offer different aspects of business-related services, expertise as well as financial support to viable ideas starting with those born out of the Postgraduate Certificate in Applied ICT and Leadership training and eventually from across the board in Uganda.  

Hacking For Health- SRHR Awareness

Over the weekend of May 13th – May 15th, a group of six students from the 1st and 2nd Applied ICT & leadership program cohorts took part in a challenge presented by Marie Stopes Uganda in conjunction with Hostalite Cyber academy, to devise ways to disseminate Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights information better, amongst the youth in Uganda.
